The Wallflower - Chapter 5
4:43 PM
Chapter 5 - Walking in the Light
After accepting Takano's offered roses, Sunako has to wonder why she finds the enchanting roses so beautiful. Suddenly, Miss Landlady is back; she tells them that she'll have a dinner party, expects a lady-like nices, and leaves. Panicking, the guys take immediate action. They ambush Sunako and because she's unwilling to at least pretend she is a lady, they offer her a bribe: a gory videotape. She accepts.
Unfortunately, despite their coaching, they fail, and Sunako falls on her face after tumbling down a flight of stairs. Later on, though, Takano takes on the task of turning her into a lady again, alone. Sunako asks him why he even pays attention to her when she can never change anyways. Now pissed off, he tells her fine, adding, "A girl like you is really an ugly girl."
A few days later, the four boys realize that they have forgotten to feed Sunako, who has stayed isolated in her room. Seeing a dejected Sunako, the three guys attack Takano for not only forgetting to give her her food, but also for calling her "ugly." The demanding one defends himself, saying a girl overflowing with self pity is an ugly girl.
The three guys leave the two alone, and Sunako starts to eat. When she's finished, Takano soflty informs her that even though he doesn't know the scale of how much she liked him, whoever dumped her is not the only guy in the world; she shouldn't destroy her life just because of him.
The next day marks the day of the ball, and the guys, together with Noi, show up in outfits befitting their "radiant-ness" (as Sunako would put it). Just as when they are looking for her, Sunako shows up, beautiful, neat, and lady-like. She gracefully walks down the stairs and further impressing the guests, she properly speaks English. The guys are tearful at this "improvement", but Takano spots her starting to falter. He hands her orange juice, and the rest of the people starts to comment on how the two would make the perfect couple (all based on their looks. =_=)
Everything's looking good, until some perverted (and disgusting) old man start to assualt Noi (yes, even in the party). Sunako, following her protective instincts, kicks the guy's butt. The guys tells Takano to stop her, but he refuses, and with a smile. (=D) Along with the other guys, he becomes disappointed, however, when Miss Landlady tells them they'll have to pay rent--but half off. Ignoring their tears, Sunako blissfully (just had to put that in) and contentedly watches her gory video. (T.T)
.....(End of Chapter and of Volume 1).....
Thoughts: My, my Wallflower is turning out to be more entertaining than I expected. It has lots of comedic moments, some drama, and (of course) romance! Unfortunately, I really want you guys to support this manga and/or the fansubbing team. So, if you want to keep reading either get your hand on a copy of the manga or read it for free HERE.
For the scanlations, thanks so much to ANIMEWAVES. (You guys are so awesome!)

Watch this one-minute video of a woman having a hard time parking her car.
A lot of people are calling the guy who helped her a good samiritan, but I think he was just pissed off because she was taking forever, and he wanted to leave. XP
It's funny, but she's making women drivers look bad.

The Wallflower - Chapter 4: Ah... A Nostalgic Dark Past
10:27 PM - Saturday, March 14, 2009
Excellent.
As Takano eats his fourth bowl of rice, Sunako is upstairs researching a good way to murder someone. They go to school (she agrees so she can get more info for the murder. 0_0) They come across a show-biz recruiter hoping to sign a contract with Takano. He immediately declines.
Later on, the guys wonder how they've never heard of the guy before, and Takano speaks up, informing them that the guy's company "handles [censored] and those kind of service, and that the customers are of both genders."
Soon, Sunako asses by and trips, and as a result Oda gets a glimpse of her notebook, which reads: "How to Kill Takano Kyohei." Takano accepts the "challenge," claiming that if she wants to kill him, she'd have to try.
That night, she mysteriously (not) enters his room carrying a rope. Unexpectedly, she sees him awake on his bead, wearing only a bathrobe, and holding a wineglass. Smiling, he comes closer to her, pushes her to the wall, and asks, "How should we play?" Sunako faints and he drags her, and laughs triumphantly.

Smiling, he comes closer to her, pushes her to the wall, and asks, "How should we play?" Sunako faints and he drags her, and laughs triumphantly.
The next morning, Takano is kidnapped by a bunch of big, ugly showbiz dudes. She immediately starts to think of plan to save him.
They, including her, dress up for cover. The reluctant Sukano, after a bid takes place for Takano, shows up in a security guard costume and starts to kick the kidnappers' butt. She shouts that they have no right to touch the most beautiful creature ever, and touched, Takano joins her butt-kicking bonanza. Soon, he carries her and they exit.
Successful, Sunako again plans her murder attempts, and the guys worry that she'll change back. Ignoring them, Takano kisses her head, thanking her. She melts.
The next morning, it is reported that the club is now shut down by officials, though there was no mention of their names. Takano plans on giving Sukano a bouquet of roses that he planted in the garden, and the three guys warn him that he shouldn't get any ideas with fellow tenants. He reassures them that it's just a present for her one step forward to becoming a lady. Sunako decides to stop her murder attempts. Still, when they see her, she has changed back looking exactly the same. But unexpectedly, when Takano hands her the flowers, she comments on their beauty and accepts without complaint.
.....End of Chapter.....
Thoughts: It looks like Takano's heart is starting to melt. (YES!!!) Wonder who's going to fall for who first? Cause right now, it doesn't really seems like Sunako's really falling for him; it's her phobia that makes her melt.
It'll be interesting to see.

The Wallflower - Chapter 3: A Bright Eye-Opening World
9:10 PM
Another funny chapter. =)
Sunako wakes up from a horrible dream and is preoccupied when the four guys tell her that since their bathroom's broken, they'll use hers. She then complains that she won't go to school, and Takano tells her to quit her whining and get ready or he'll cut her more. Shecomes is dragged to school, sporting an ugly dark bonnet.
Sunako wakes up from a horrible dream and is preoccupied when the four guys tell her that since their bathroom's broken, they'll use hers. She then complains that she won't go to school, and Takano tells her to quit her whining and get ready or he'll cut her more. She
As school fans questions on Sunako's relationship with the four, a beautiful girl, nicknamed Naie-chan) shows up and goes looking for Oda (one of the four guys whose rich family are masters of ikebana, a Japanese-style of flower arranging.) Naie-chan tells her how lucky she is to be living with Oda (who has hidden somewhere). Sunako offers a switch, for which Takano immediately and firmly (and darkly) objects. As Naie-chan and Takano quarrel, Sunako marvels on how perfect match the two were (What is up with the society and its obsession for good looks?)
Later on, Tanako drags the roped Sunako, and when they come across a mirror, she purposely kicks it to piece. She thinks, "I've lived happily because I have never looked at myself in the mirror for the past 2 years."
After dinner, Sunako, who has eaten separately, cleans up . When she's finished she walks to the bathroom, already naked, for a shower, only to find Tanako himself showering. She screams in astonishment. The other guys rush to the room, and she covers herself up. She ponders over the fact that it was her fist time seeing a guy naked and how his body is more beautiful than hers. (awkward...)
A blushing Tanako ends up with a fever, and the guys hand all the responsibilities of taking care of him to her. (Okay, so not only have you turned the kind landlady's niece into a cook and a dishwasher, she's now a caretaker?) He's more demanding than ever; he wants a strawberries, hot choco, ice cream, yogurt, and popsicles, as well his room cleaned and laundry done. Infuriated, she is astonished when he suddenly starts to apologize about the shower scene. Not knowing what to do, she flees.
She bumps into Naie, ( more formally spelled as Noi, so I'll go with that starting now.) She picnics with her and there she confesses that to Noi that merely the oh-too-radiant looks of his causes her to shake and her nose to bleed. Noi guesses that she likes Tanako. She immediately denies it, and so Noi encourages here to clean up and make him feel the way she does. Sunako comments on how radiant people like her always talk so easily, adding that she shouldn't associate her with her other "species." Noi grimly informs her that as someone who has never tried, she doesn't have the right to talk about her like that. She continues arguing, asking her what the heck is so good about looks? As long as anyone works hard, that person can always look good. Again, Sunako thinks that only radiant people can say such things.
Sunako comes back inside the house, handing Tanako his soup. Unable to do it himself, she is forced to help him change, and she does so awkwardly.
Distracted, Sunako does a horrible job at cooking, and the three guys complain. Oda asks if Noi came by, and they start to talk about how she worked hard for her looks (she was ugly back in middle school).
Flustered, she walks up to Tanako's room and changes his fever patch. As she looks at his "radiance," she grabs a pair of scissors to plunge into him. Thankfully, the other guys stop her just in time.
.........End of Chapter..........
Thoughts: The chapter was good, though the last scene I didn't enjoy much. It makes Sunako looks like a freaky murderer. One thing that will really get annoying, though, if it continues on, is Sunako's resistance on morphing from a caterpillar into a butterfly (or an ugly duckling to a swan).
But we're only three chapters on, so who knows?

OMG! My fanfic is nominated for an award!
12:27 PM
This was.... unexpected. My first ever chapter fanfic (Unceasing, Unsaid, Unsettling, Uncertain) was nominated for the .Moon Fanfic Works in Progress Award.
Okay, honestly, I don't know how. or why. I've heard of the award before (I voted for a fanfic last year), but I have no idea why my fanfic is nominated for an award.
Okay, honestly, I don't know how. or why. I've heard of the award before (I voted for a fanfic last year), but I have no idea why my fanfic is nominated for an award.
Anyhoo, thanks for the nomination, and please vote for me when the voting comes.
The fanfic is a Robotech fanfic, and one really doesn't to know much about the original story except that Rick is a fighter pilot in a military unit called the Robotech Defense Force, and there are aliens (the Zentradi), who are divided into two. Breetai's group of Zentradi is alongside the humans (thank goodness) and Khyron's group are the rebellious ones. Rick is stuck in a love triangle with his superior officer Lisa and the pop singer Minmay.
The fanfic itself isn't very canon, and it starts out with Rick not showing up for her picnic with Lisa. Since then, as he's realizing he's falling for her, a series of events keep pushing them apart. (Drama drama drama.)
The Wallflower - Chapter 2: A Mission to Cut the Hair!
11:06 AM
Wallflower (a.k.a. Perfect Girl Evolution) is hilarious and sweet, a delight eye candy.
Early in the morning, the four boys hover over Sunako, forcefully giving her a mini-makeover. Takano accidentally over-plucked her eyelashes and gave her a foundation for which she had an allergic reaction. As a result, she looks worse. She reminds them to leave her alone, and fed-up, Takano tells the rest of the guys to stop bothering. It doesn't matter how much effort they put in; she doesn't want to change anyways.

She reminds them to leave her alone, and fed-up, Takano tells the rest of the guys to stop bothering. It doesn't matter how much effort they put in; she doesn't want to change anyways.
The four arrive at school, and girls drool over admire them. (Of course.) Sunako enters school, too. She's grateful, as she assumes that everyone is simply avoiding her. However, in reality, every student is gossiping about a creep new ghost (seriously).
Suddenly, there's a picture contest on who can take the picture of her, and again, the guys insist on cutting her hair. Takano yells at her resistance again, and she defends her herself by saying: "A guy whom I liked before said that I'm an ugly girl." She tells them she used to be a normal girl, caring about her looks 24/7. But since it proved to be of no use, she gave it all up. Starting then, she refused on others seeing the look of her face.
Later on, as she walks in the hallway, Takano grabs her and demands to know who the guy is; he's going to beat him up. (Awww... but did ya have to ruin the moment by shouting?) Jealous Takano-admirers watch the two with dark faces. Freaking out, she faints.
The next morning, she tells the guys that she will not come to school until the contest is over. Takano blackmails her; saying that if she doesn't attend school, he'll cut her bangs. The other guys sincerely reassure her that they won't forcefully cut it. So sh does go to school, only to find her surrounded by the dark-faced Takano admirers, with the leader holding a pair of scissors.
Mr. Demanding intervenes, and the leader accidentally scratch his face, causing the other fans to passionately react. Now angry, Sukano kicks the leader's face, and surprisingly, takes the scissors and trims her bangs. With a clear face, she demands the bewildered fans to immediately appologize to "the radiant being."
Takano and the other also astonished guys stare until they finally drag her, telling her that they should go home now. The girls wonder why they would go home with her, and they admit that they live together. With her. Heading home, she looks for a hat to cover her face. Takano interrupts and the boys marvels over her unpolished beauty. They now celebrate over the new glint of hope, though they know that there's going to be a long journey ahead.

Thoughts: So far, (and I know it's still learly to say this, the manga's awesome, with a great mix of drama and hilarity. I'm also liking the pacing; it's not too fast or slow.

The Wallflower - Chapter 1: A Light in the Darkness
1:29 AM
Here's my first shot at ever recapping something.
For C and N for telling me a million times each day to read this. =D
Thanks to ANIMEWAVES for the scanlations.
The manga series starts off with four boys: Kyohei Takano, Takenaga Oda, Yukinojo "Yuki" Toyama, and Ranmaru Morii, who are informed by a landowner that they can rent a large mansion all for free. There's only one condition: they have to transform her niece into a lady whose manners and personality fit her high status. All four are happy and confident, until they see her. She shows up as a mess: hair uncombed and tangled, with cheap-looking, unfashionable clothes.
Takano, seemingly the most demanding (and good-looking) of the four, offers on cutting her long bangs, which are covering almost half her face, off. She immediately responds, telling him to back off and leave her bangs alone. Takano is infuriated with her attitude as the others comment on how she looks like she came from a horror film. (Apparently, you guys have not seen the really gory ones.)
We find out, however, that the reason she doesn't want to chop off her bangs is because she doesn't want anyone to see her (what she calls) ugly face. The next morning, the boys, except Takano, ponder over how to approach this unexpected outcome (they were hoping for a normal girl).
The niece, whose name is Sunako Nakahara, tries to avoid them, and she hides in a room. She soon realizes that the room is Takano's, after he comes out from the shower, wearing only a pair of pants. She begins to tremble, telling him to stay away.
He yells at her again. This time he exclaims, "The only reason we put up with your antics is because we get to slack off on our rent!" (Way to boost the insecure girl's confidence, Takano. I think you need a chill pill.) One of the boys (I can't tell apart the other three yet, sorry) asks her if she hates men. She answers that that's not the case.
Later, she decides to leave, desperate to be alone. She runs into a park, trips, and have some awful guys laughing and not even bothering to help her. (Jerks.)
Takano suddenly shows up, calling her stupid for running away just 'cause he got angry. He picks her hand up, motioning for her to get up and that she shouldn't be running out alone. As they walk together, with him still holding onto her wrist, a bunch of bystanders question why such a good-looking guy is hanging out with such an ugly girl. (I say, what the heck does that have to do with you? Mind your own business!)
Later on, Takano starts to cook. He's unsuccessful; accidentally cutting his fingers twice. Soon, Sunako takes over as the boys watch fearfully (she seems scarier with the knife and the "horror-movie look").
The boys eat the incredibly delicious food gratefully (mind you, everyone but Tanako uses their chopsticks. Is it too delicious, Mr. Demanding?) and then Ranmaru, the playboy one, takes a rubber band. He wants to push her hair back, curious to see the look of her face. She steps back, and he comes closer, until he is on top of her (literally). She accidentally trips over a bag of flour, and taking the flour off her hair, she unveils her face. And unexpectedly, she is actually very beautiful. The boys stare in amazement.
She immediately wipes off the flour with a towel, and then her eye bags, pimples, chapped lips and some facial hair become visible. The guys are taken aback at the changes and she immediately covers her face again. (with her hair, not the flour.)
Later on, they see her and this time, she has worn sunglasses, a medical mask, and a large hood. The landlady suddenly calls to check on the progress, and Ranmaru dishonestly reassures her that everything is proceeding excellently as the other guys watch with worry and shock.
Then, they all simultaneously stare at Sunako with watery eyes, wondering how they'll ever advance with a girl like her.
.....End of Chapter......
Thoughts: One of the things I'm really curious of is why Sunako is like this. I'm pretty sure that she's really a gorgeous girl and she's also the heiress of a humongous estate, so what brought her to this insecure state?
Things seem to be heading to Tanako as Sunako's leading man. My only hope is that he softens up a bit. (ok, A LOT.)
